InfoHawk Raises $2.25M in Pre-Seed Funding to Detect and Prevent AI-Driven Deception and Scams

Moonshots Capital leads funding round along with prominent angel investors

Austin, TX, June 8, 2026 — InfoHawk, the AI platform built to detect and neutralize deception at internet scale, today announced it has closed a $2.25 million pre-seed financing round, led by Moonshots Capital. InfoHawk was founded by Rob Leathern, Ben Poiesz, and James McCrindle.

Fraud and scams have grown from an internet nuisance into one of the defining threats of the digital age. If scams were a country, it would rank around 30th in the world by GDP — bigger than Austria, Colombia, or Singapore. According to the Global Anti-Scam Alliance (GASA) Global State of Scams 2025 Report, consumers globally lost an estimated $442 billion to scams in the past 12 months. Across 42 different countries surveyed, 57% of adults said they encountered a scam in the past year and 23% lost money. These figures don't include the global trade in counterfeit goods, estimated at an additional $467 billion per year.

Artificial Intelligence Exacerbates Harms

It's clear that AI tools are supercharging scams, by making them faster & more automated, allowing fraudsters to easily copy legitimate sites, videos or assets in seconds. Scammers also use cheap, customizable and ubiquitous AI and cloud infrastructure to evade detection.

Brands are being impersonated, and enterprise employees are being deepfaked or their accounts compromised.

The components enabling this operate across jurisdictions and platforms, making attribution and enforcement nearly impossible without specialized intelligence and infrastructure. The result is a fraud ecosystem that is faster, cheaper, and harder to detect than at any prior point since the dawn of the Internet.
